Barbie Sheds Her Makeup

Intrigued by the idea of "Barbie without makeup" artist Eddi Aguirre Cendejaz created his own vision of the iconic doll.

Although I like the idea, I am not sure how I feel about the execution. The tired eyes and shiny skin look true to life, but I am not sure why the artist felt the need to give her yellow teeth and roots, since that is unrelated to makeup. Even that can perhaps be justified as various elements of a beauty regimen... but I am still completely baffled by what appears to be whispy, six-inch-long hairs coming down her cheeks.

What do you think about Barbie's au naturale look?

  1. Lol Cheek hair! Well, you know.. some women do get fuzzy faces.. ;) I read an article about this piece, and it said she had braces, and frizzy hair. A. Why would she only have braces sometimes? and B. I dunno about you, but my natural hair is stick straight with fuzz only near my face. Kidding! lol I like the idea, but I think some aspects of it could be better. The skin is so accurate, but the hair specifically is just weird looking.

  3. I think the cheek hair might be frizz from her hair. It just looks weird because her hair is only frizzy on the inside.

  5. a woman of her age would be far more likely to have excess facial hair. She is definitely at an appropriate age for menopause.

  6. Why doesn't she have any eyelashes!? Even women who don't wear make-up have eyelashes!

  7. This looks more like Barbie on meth. I think even without makeup Barbie would look a little less rough.
