Review: BareMinerals The Wild Thing READY Eyeshadow Quad

Do you love hearing about gorgeous, amazing things that you totally can't have?

Well, I hope so, since I'm a year fucking late on this shit... but it is awesome.

(If lusting over things you can't have doesn't appeal to you, I suggest scrolling to the next post really quickly!)

After completely dismissing the brand for years, I recently discovered the wonderfulness that is BareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow. Although it was released for Spring 2013, the Wild Thing quad, at the time, was in the Sephora sale section. Of course, I immediately realized that I needed to have it.

AND THANK FUCK I ORDERED IT IMMEDIATELY, SINCE THIS IS THE PERFECT MOTHERFUCKING PALETTE. (And now it's gone...)

Reasons why this palette is flawless:

1. The compact is aqua. AQUA. It's so beautiful, it is as if it taunts the other makeup in my collection.

2. The palette is polite. When you first open it up, it greets you with a friendly 'Hello'.

3. Seriously, just look at this shit. I bet you feel terrible that you didn't buy this when it was available.

4. The color combination is brilliant and completely unexpected.

5. The colors swatch like butter.

Sensational is an iridescent sea foam that almost appears as if it is glowing. It is gorgeous. If you do not love it, it may be time to schedule an appointment to test for color-blindness.

Icon is a yellow-y, dead-grass chartreuse with a tiny bit of shimmer. I would say that it's a little bit rougher in texture than the other shades in the palette, but the color payoff is still excellent.

Elitist is a satin-finished medium brown with some green hues hidden in there.

Controversy is a frosty denim blue.

Every single color is approximately perfect in terms of pigmentation and texture.

6. The colors are unbelievably easy to blend.

A couple looks I have done with the Wild Thing Quad:

Overall, I like just about everything about these shadows. The only minor quibble I have is the price: BareMinerals Eyeshadow Quads retail for $30 for 0.17oz, putting them at a slightly-pricy $176.47 per ounce.

Sadly, since this palette is now sold out, you're going to have to buy some other BareMinerals eyeshadow to fill that enormous 'Wild Thing'-shaped hole that I am sure I have created in your heart.

    1. It's layered! A teeeeeny bit of Revlon Snow Peach with my Julep gloss on top.

  2. I just bought a little kit with an eyeshadow duo in the shades Aspire and Vow, along with an eyeliner, blush, a different mineral veil (that really looks good) and a smaller face brush. I know how you feel about BM foundation, but seriously Robyn- one time I was in a poker tournament and this big burly mean looking guy sitting across from me said "You have beautiful skin". LOL. That's what it does for me.

But anyways, the eyeshadows are wonderful! Just two but they are enough for an everyday casual look.

    1. BareMinerals is such a nightmare on me! No one would say that if they saw my face on BareMinerals, haha.

  4. Ugh, that is beautiful. It came out when I was trying to be more... practical. But obviously that part of me is wrong, ugh. I love bareMinerals!! They kickstarted my eyeshadow obsession, I think. I picked up a duo in a Sephora (we don't have it where I live), and like nearly convulsed on the spot because I had never experienced eyeshadow as buttery and smooth as these ones.

    1. Never be practical!

By the way, LORAC Pro is similar in texture, if you can get a hold of it.

  5. Okay first off, love the blog! Second, I was wondering how you handle storing/ organizing your makeup. I'm beginning to feel overwhelmed by my collection and as a result have been using a smaller selection of products simply because they're easiest to access. And I'm sure my stash is a fraction of the size of yours! Anyway, you've probably been asked about this before, but any tips you'd like to share would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Oh god. I am the worst at storing my makeup, so I will be terrible inspiration. I haven't done a post because my post would just be like, "Here is my pile of stuff."

    1. Bummer about the mark-up, though. $54.58 for 0.17oz is a cringe-inducing $321.06 per ounce!

  7. These are beautiful. :) How do the texture of these eyeshadows compare to Urban Decay and LORAC eyeshadows? I'm extremely tempted to pick up some bare mineral eyeshadows but I'm not sure if I should go for the ready neutrals palette or the Pro or Naked Palette.

    1. Comparable to LORAC Pro, MUCH better than Urban Decay. I would pick between the Ready Neutrals palette or LORAC Pro. (And actually, I think LORAC Pro has more variety. So that's my pick.)

  8. I'm not jealous, but only because I just bough the BM Degrees of Dazzling set....20 loose eye shadows that are so beautiful, I cannot use them yet. I am not quite finished looking at them. (And I haven't figured out how to store them yet without spilling them all over the floor.)

  14. It is a truth universally acknowledged that more eyeshadow palettes need to be aqua. Seriously.

  15. Ooh! I saw this palette recently at a cosmetics outlet store at a Premium Outlet mall. There were no applicators out for testing, and I felt weird asking (silly). Why didn't I just buy it??

  16. I typically amnt one drawn to Bare Minerals but you may have swayed me! The looks you created were very nice and the shadows actually seem nice. I'll definitely check this out next time I'm at Macy's.

  17. Awesomeness in greenness! I've started collecting greens and such. Have you seen the Revlon Colorfast quad in Harmonius? I love it. A soft shimmer sand color, a medium leaf green, a rosy pink, and a shimmery bronze type color. The shimmer is not over the top. Color only lasted about 4 hrs. for me with Nars primer, but shadow never lasts on my oily lids long- primer or not.

  18. That first photo. Omg. I NEED this palette now. Unless I can get that colour in a single somewhere?
